If you want to mod your currently existing characters, you have to copy them over into the new mod saves folder. The reason is simply - there's two save folders now! One is for modded characters, the other for unmodded characters. Characters in your vanilla style game (which is all characters up to this point) will NOT be loaded / playable in the mod client. The second option with the gear in the button is the mod management and play tool.įrom here you can check box mods you've downloaded and have located in the appropriate folder. You'll notice when starting the game now, after April the 1st's patch, there's two options. I figure more people will be playing unmodded at the minute anyway, since this just dropped. Not sure whether to start my new character as vanilla or modded. If I run with mods, can I play with unmodded players? And vice-versa? There's also a mod that adds colors palettes to the owl pet, separately. There's a mod on the Steam Workshop that adds more color palettes to the new pets, and it actually looks really good. The re-spec potion was never the issue so much as getting hold of the thing. Personally I can't see any complications arising from doing this and then copying your character back to the non-modded folder. Your modded character saves are stored in Documents\My Games\Runic Games\Torchlight 2\ModSave or (Documents\My Games\Runic Games\Torchlight 2\ModSave\7458XXXXXXXXXXXXX) for Steam users.īasically if you want to use that respec potion (which IIRC was a big bone of contention back when the gane first released), you'll need to copy your character over into the modded folder, then activate the mod and buy it. It is possible to copy your saves over from an un-modded state to enable mod access, but be advised that we cannot guarantee that it will work flawlessly, particularly if you take a character from a modded state and bring it back into an un-modded mode of gameplay. To access your previously-created characters, you will need to launch Torchlight II in "vanilla" mode without mods. If you are playing Torchlight II with mods enabled, you will find that characters you have created during an un-modded gaming session are not available from the character selection screen.
